12-16-01 LVC 17’s Tournament at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, PA; Damon’s defeated Red Rose 25-10, 25-14 in the semifinals and WSY 21-25, 25-12, 20-18 in a nail-biter final. Damon’s had 7 game points before Luke Murray blocks for point 19 and Gary Vogel tools the right side blocker for game/match point. A fantastic final, congrats to both WSY and Damon’s!

12-9-01 Red Rose Tournament at Wilson HS, PA Damon’s lost in the quarterfinals to West Shore Y 23-25, 23-25. Damon’s placed first in pool one (7-1) defeating Red Rose Wild Bills 2-0, Velocity Red 2-0, Lancaster Blue 2-0 and splitting with Club Lehigh. Mpeg

Velocity Red advanced to the finals after defeating Indian Valley (2-1) in one semifinal; Bala Beach also advanced to the finals after defeating West Shore Y (2-0): the winner will be posted later. ???

12-2-01 Yorktowne/Dover Tournament Damon’s lost to a strong Warren NJ team 25-27, 20-25 in the finals after defeating Allentown 27-25, 25-12 in the semifinal. Damon’s went 3-0 in pool play defeating Lancaster Blue 25-6, 25-13, 15-5; BuxMont Gold 25-15, 25-12, 15-3; Bala Beach 25-23, 25-16, 15-10.

A great final match, Damon’s had two opportunities to win the first game before Warren won with strong hitting and blocking. In the second game Warren was in control and won 25-20. The semifinal was just as exciting. In the first game Damon’s was trailing Allentown 13-19 before winning 27-25. In the second game Damon’s shut the door early with a 12 point run and won going away 25-12. Photo

2-11-01 Damon's Select @ Dover High School won the Outsider's 18's Tournament defeating WAVE in the semifinals and Club Precision Gold in the finals 2-0.

2-10-01 Damon's 17's @ Volley East The Damon's 17's team won the Volley East Tournament sweeping Club Lehigh in the semifinal 25-23, 25-18 and Precision 17's Gold in the Finals 26-24, 25-12. The 17's played well all day. They defeated Lancaster 25-17, 25-12; Precision Silver 25-8, 25-13; Ephrata 25-15, 25-20 and split with Yorktowne 25-16, 25-27.

In the finals Precision came out on fire! However the Damon's defense slowly extinguished the Precision offense to clinch the victory. Precision is a powerful team with many quality players. The Damon's 17's just kept most balls from hitting the floor. Great Tournament, Thank you Volley East pic

2-3-2001 Damon's Select and Damon's 17's @ the Nittany Invitational, PSU schedule Damon's Select advanced to the Gold division on Sunday and lost (0-2) to Durham Attack, Ontario Canada placing tied for 9th out of 52 teams.

The 17's lost every game (0-10) against Eden Mizuno 18's, Precision Gold, Long Island Gold, York Jrs. 18's and Coastal Va. 18 National on Saturday but played tough. They pushed every team! Most games ended with Damon's scoring 20 plus points against much older, taller, faster opponents. Entering the Bronze Division on Sunday Damon's defeated Ashland Virginia 25-13, 25-20 lost to WAVE (Chambersburg area, PA) 25-27, 29-31 and Warren NJ 17-25, 20-25.

Tournament notes: The Damon's 17's lose # 12, Gary Vogel, a setter and team's tallest player at 5' 10" five minutes into the first game of the tournament with an ankle injury. Damon's # 17 Mike Baker takes a shot off his chest (knocked him back 5 feet) from Precision's # 10 (6' 6 middle) and sends the ball back over the net for a Damon's point. The Damon's 17's roster: Freshmen, # 2 Stavig, 12 Vogel, 17 Baker, 27 Murray, Sophomores 14 Karshin, 18 Koon, 22 Yeager and Junior 8 Mowery.

1-20-2001 Damon's Select @ Volley East 18's Allentown Damon's Select won pool "A" defeating Velocity Red, Falcon, Long Island VBC #2, Ashland Revolution. Then defeated Ephrata in the quarterfinals and Long Island # 1 in the semifinals. Damon's Select lost to Maryland Red in the finals 0-2. Tournament results.

1-20-2001 Damon's 16's @ Volley East 18's, Allentown Did not advance to the playoffs, however they defeated WSY 23-25, 25-18, 25-15 lost to Lancaster Black 26-28, 11-25, 19-25 and Maryland Red 16-25, 16-25, 16-25. Yes, the same team that won the tournament.

1-14-2001 Damon's 17's @ PSU Harrisburg Damon's def. Club Lehigh 28-30, 25-22, 15-6 in the semifinals and lost to Precision 17 Gold in the finals 25-17, 19-25, 17-15. Great tournament! Thank you WSY and Director Jeff Floyd. Mom and Dads had many anxious moments. The competition was intense:-) (check out the scores) Congrats to semifinalist Lancaster, Lehigh, runner-up Damons and champion Precision.

1-13-2001 Damon's 16's @ New Oxford, placed 2nd losing to Long Island Gold in the finals 25-22, 14-25, 12-15. If your team left early and you missed the final with Damon’s and Long Island Gold you missed a fabulous match that went 3 games; 25-22, 14-25 and 12-15 with Long Island Gold winning the contest. This was one of those matches where everyone deserves a trophy. Great job guys! James Kramer

12-23-00 Damon's 17's @ Red Lion go 6-2 in pool play to win the Yorktowne 17's Tournament defeating Lancaster, ERVBC, Yorktowne and losing to First Capitol. As the temperature outside was in the single digits, the Volleycenter heated to a marvelous 55 degrees. After experiencing a temporary black out the Volleycenter warmed to a balmy 59 degrees. One of the Damons setters, Luke Murray had to go take a snow bath to warm up. We were happy that the heat was on. It was a hot volleyball event :-) Merry Christmas

Damons 18's @ Allentown won the Volley East 18's Tournament, results

12-17-00 Damon's 16's @ Lebanon Valley College go 9-0 in pool play then lost a heartbreaker to York Jrs. in the semifinals 17-25, 25-11, 14-16. Damon's led 9-3 in the 3rd game before falling in the semifinal. The York Jrs. team played tremendous defense in the deciding semifinal game, not making a mistake for 8 straight serves. West Shore Y won the tournament defeating York Jrs. in 3 games. Key players in the tournament were York's # 77 and 23. The tall WSY player and his teammates. Damon's # 12, 17 and 27 (the short guys in need of a hair cut).

12-9-00 The Damon's 16's traveled to the VolleyCenter in Red Lion on Saturday. The short Damon's players managed to win (undefeated) the Yorktowne tournament trophy by defeating Red Rose 3-0, Yorktowne 3-0 and the Outsiders 3-0 in pool play, West Shore Y in the semi's 25-18, 25-16 and York Jrs. in the finals. The final was a great match between the power of York Jrs vs the ball control of Damon's. In the first game of the finals the teams were tied at 22-22 before Damon's scored 3 quick points to win the game. The second game was close until 14 then Damons pulled away winning 25-19. York Jrs. was led by the unstoppable number 77. The Damon's 16's tournament win streak is at two.

12-2-00 The Damon's 16's won the Outsiders 16's tournament Defeating York Jrs. 16's in the finals 25-12, 25-17. The vertically challanged 16's kept the ball off the floor all day. Setters Gary Vogel, Mike Baker and Luke Murray chucked many balls to unstoppable Chris "Lucky" Karshin_ producing a few kills. Rick Stavig and Dave Campbell each blocked a ball. Nate Ipsen and Alex Latanision contributed to the tournament victory with jump serves and tenacious defense.
